Show Marriott-Slaterville History October 2008 water rights to pump from the canal, although he has done so previously. He allowed the subdivision developer to use his property for drainage, which he regrets, as he was never paid, and the subdivision residents are worried about dust. He was located there long before the subdivision was made, and everyone who moved there was aware of his arena. Councilman Kim Slater noted that the subdivision was approved by Weber County and the subdivider gave many assurances which were not kept. The APA was approved unanimously with the amendment to initially attempt to resolve problems that may arise on a local level. James Williamson, subdivider, has requested an amendment to vacate Lot 4 on the First Amended Plat for the Big :"W" Subdivision which was approved by the council on June 19, 2008. This would allow him to recoup the costs of developing the road in his subdivision. The vacating of the lot comes at the request of the county recorder's office. After discussion Ordinance 2008-09 on the lot being vacated was approved with the provision that this piece be later incorporated into the adjoining subdivision. A new CRO for the city, Deputy Matt Pittman, was introduced to the council by Mayor Keith Butler. The Mayor also thanked Kim Slater for his help in moving and storing the tables at the Slaterville Park. The city office was one of the locations for early voting for the upcoming election, and began on Tuesday, October 21, 2008. The only cost to the city was for utilities, with the county paying for this election. A Maverick station on the corner of 400 North and 2000 West is being built. The state wants to put a barrier in the middle of 2000 West at this intersection, and resolution of the issue is underway. Scott VanLeeuwen said UDOT will be working on the 12th Street reconstruction beginning October 20. He also advised that the Marriott Ditch headgate disappeared then appeared at the Marriott Park with the wheel missing. Delbert Hodson said some residents are having problems walking their dogs, with other dogs along the way coming out and threatening them. Kim Slater said there are potholes on 200 South that need to be fixed. He also advised that a young male resident of the city contracted West Nile Virus, and reminded the residents to take extra precaution when mosquitoes are present. He also said Joe Deru had contacted him about a jogging path at the park, and that it was an idea to consider. Bits and Pieces Luke DeVries, son of Darren and Jenny DeVries, was born on October 12, 2008. Mason Merrill Petersen, son of Jacob and Shae Petersen, was born October 15, 2008. Naomi Eilers celebrated her 80th birthday on October 25, 2008. Marvin Hyrum Saunders, age 87, passed away on October 27, 2008. 140 |
