Show MARRIOTT-SLATERVILLE CITY HISTORY November 2008 Unusually warm weather during much of the month was enjoyed by residents, but brought some concern about the lack of moisture for the trees planted in the park behind the city office. Also, there is always concern about the snow pack, or lack of it, in the mountains which supply our summer potable and irrigation water. The park behind the city building is not the only one progressing as grass was planted at the 700 South park by Al Donoviel. Jerry Stanger prepared the ground by running a harrow over it until the condition for the grass was right. The secondary water line installed to this park has finally been completed by the developer, and sprinklers are now being installed by Mr. Donoviel. Jim Ito has been asked about a grant for a tennis court at this park. At the November 20, 2008, Councilman Delbert Hodson asked about the park plans on 700 South and 17* Street. City Administrator Bill Morris updated the progress at 700 South and said that the 17th Street park will remain a nature park. Randy Phipps is again on the trail committee and also volunteered to help with weed control at the parks. The new bridge is at the park, and is proposed to extend over the Ogden River. At the November 20, 2008, City Council Meeting, Jerry Goodspeed, USU Weber County Extension Service, presented Donald Bell the Master Tree Award. Mr. Bell has completed the required USU Extension class required for this award. The council meeting this month was a very busy one. Business licenses were approved for Timber Ridge Tires, 1066 North 3000 West, on-line tire wholesale, and 3-C Advertising LLC, 749 South 2000 West, advertising on golf courses. Mike Pepper, coordinator for the 12th Street Reconstruction, gave a slide presentation of the project. Councilman Rob Smout asked about the reconstruction in relation to the recently acquired sewer tine from Ogden City, which is located on the north side of the street. The Staff advised that UDOT will install a line on the south side of the street as part of the reconstruction. Users are assisting with the cost of the line extension. Resolution 2008-M, the Development and Host Fee Agreement with Allied Waste on 1700 South Street, was discussed. Allied Waste has received final site plan approval from the Planning Commission. The council does not act on the site plan, but their action is needed on the Development and Host Fee Agreement. When asked bout the amount of waste that will be generated at the site, Bill Green from Allied Waste advised that at this time they did not have a tonnage estimate, but there will be about 5 semi-truck loads per day. At present, there are about 25 dump trucks going to the site each day. Mr. Hodson asked about the size of the facility. The business proposes a new 8,000 square foot building, which is much smaller than the 60,000 square foot building proposed by Metro Waste. The resolution was approved by the council. Brent Slater, Jones and Associates, has recommended, by memo dated November 11, 2008, final acceptance of the improvements in Mill Creek Subdivision, subject to completion of several outstanding items: a Backfill the sidewalks on the entry road into the subdivision. b. Cleanup of concrete and asphalt chunks in the park strip in the entry way into the subdivision. c. Remove and replace the cracked handicap ramp at the northeast corner of 500 South 2075 West. d. Funds being held in escrow for completion of the seal coat need to be transferred to the city, so the city can complete the seal coat next year. e. Hold $9,815.00 in escrow for the installation of sidewalks for lots and sidewalk amounts as follows: Lot 4, 117', Lot 18, 15', Lot 19, 25', Lot 20, 232' Lot 22, 246', and Lot 23, 120". Jason Calder, developer, acknowledged the items remaining to be completed. The council granted final acceptance of Mill Creek Meadows Subdivision, based upon the completion of the outstanding items. 141 |
