Show Marriott-Slaterville City 2002 State of the City Address Mayor Keith H. Butler January 17, 2002 State of the City Address As we begin the new year, I thank you for your confidence in electing me to another term. I will do everything in my power to faithfully execute this office. This year brings with it new goals and aspirations. Let me first tell you that the city is doing well and is financially sound. For the third year I am again pleased to say there is no city property tax in Marriott-Slaterville, nor do I expect any. This is thanks to our wonderful volunteers, council, and staff. However, there are other problems that this community faces, namely crime. Our good Sheriff, Brad Slater, has kept crime under control. The city has an interlocal agreement with the County Sheriff to provide public safety services, and this arrangement has worked well. In fact, the city also has a Community Resource Officer to assist us in areas of specific concern. But it is alarming to see the number of incidents in the community continue to grow year after year. To open your eyes on my concerns let me show you the following statistics: 2001 Incident Report for MSC - Weber County Sheriff Description No. Description No. 911 Unknown Call 4 Abandoned Vehicle 9 Assault with gun 1 Alarm 6 False Alarm 44 Medical Assist 25 Animal Problem/Livestock 26 Alcohol Offense 17 Warrant for Arrest 33 Simple Assault 5 Agency Assist 47 Attempt to Locate 1 Burglary 9 Citizen Dispute 16 Citizen Assist 110 Criminal Mischief 6 CSI Evidence 1 Controlled Substance (Drugs) 56 Curfew/Loitering 2 Comm.
