Show June 20, 2002 Impact fees put on hold MARRIOTT-SLATERVILLE - The city has postponed the setting of any new impact fees until July 18. An impact fee is a one-time payment charged to new development for the additional people, traffic or use of city services it may generate. Impact fees cannot be assessed on facilities or services that don't actually exist, which created a problem for the City Council recently. Certain roads in the city are not yet built. On the other hand, neighboring cities are feeding traffic onto Slaterville streets, cities may owe impact fees to Slaterville. June 27, 2002 Marriott-Slaterville When it comes to Independence Day, it's no holds barred in Marriott-Slaterville. The small city starts its celebration two days early, on July 2, with a golf tournament starting at 4:40 at Mulligans. The July 4th celebration begins early; at 7:30 a.m. with a 5K run and 1K walk; at 8 a.m., there will be a youth fund-raiser breakfast at both Slaterville and Marriott parks, followed by a community parade. Lunch of hamburgers and hot dogs is served at noon. Mayor Keith Butler suggests that folks can work off the calories they consume with the events that follow lunch; a big-foot race, golfchipping, softball, and for the less athletically inclined, bingo and other games.
