This information has left behind rich histories, stories and important information regarding the history of the Marriott-Slaterville area. |

Show The Pioneer Post Volume IV Issue 3 Marriott-Slaterville City Newsletter March 2002 1195 West 400 North, MSC, UT 84404 (627-1919, Fax 627-1880) Mayor's Message The Olympics have come and gone, and most folks judge them a success as a result of many factors. I make the following inquiries to compare what I think our success as a city is and what the Olympics did to be successful. Was there public demand? Was there adequate research and finances? Was there proper planning? Were people and volunteers involved in formation? Was there a goal to be accomplished? Was there adequate leadership and staff? Was there dedication to follow through with obligation and work loads? Was the desired goal achieved with best efforts? I believe that our city and the Olympic organizers answer each of the above questions above affirmatively. It is an accepted fact that the Olympics could not have succeeded without the service of hundreds of volunteers. This community too has numerous hard working volunteers carrying the Marriott-Slaterville torch in making this city successful. There are too many volunteers to individually acknowledge, however, I give you one recent example. It is our new city entryway sign on 400 North/Pioneer Road exiting BDO. "Like the Eccles family who bought the Olympic cauldron, much of the cost for this entryway sign was donated by the Meyerhoffer and Van Leeuwen families. Also, Mr. Israelsen volunteered his time and equipment to landscape it. Now we have a beautiful marker to enter our community. I just cannot express enough my appreciation to all those folks who give so much to make this community work. I encourage everyone to give of their talents and spare time for their neighbors. Planning Commission Agenda Wednesday, March 13, 2002, at 7:00 p.m. 1. Call to order and approve minutes. 2. Discussion/action commercial site plan for America First Credit Union at 12th & 12th. 3. Discussion/action Conditional Use Permit #2002-01 for Cingular Wireless to co-locate antenna facilities on an existing communications tower near 600 North and 1200 West. 4. Discussion/action on Ordinance 2002-11 to repeal and reenact Chapter 13.04 Notice of Change to have staff comply with state notice requirement in Title 10 Chapter 9 of the Utah Code, allow staff to adopt notice procedure and policy on other matters, and allow Planning Commission to request special notice as warranted. 5. Discussion on getting Planning Commissioners copies of recent subdivision and zoning changes. 6.Adjourn until April 10, 2002, at 7:00 p.m. City Council Agenda Thursday, March 21, 2002, 6:30 p.m. 1. Call to order and approval of minutes. 2. Mayor's Volunteer of the Month. 3. Discussion/action on approval of appointment. 4. Discussion/action on new business licenses for Triple S Trucking, Inc., Aspen Homes Development, Inc., and Mr. Money at 12th Street Plaza. 5. Presentation on maintenance of Warren Canal. 6. Presentation on I-15 widening in 2005. 7. Discussion/action on Ordinance 2002-03 for Simonton Rezone for property at approximately 293 N 1600 W. 8. Discussion/action on Ordinance 2002-10 repealing license incentives, requiring proper addressing to denote proper jurisdiction and to properly file sales and use tax returns, and impose fines and penalties for violations. 9. Discussion/action on Ordinance 2002-12 for the Central Weber Sewer Environmental Control Act. 10. Discussion/action on Resolution 2002-A approving an Interlocal Cooperation Agreement with Bona 101 |
