Show Honors for a Fine Young Resident, Billy Green November 5, 2002 Silver Wolves' Green earns Heisman honor Standard-Examiner staff Fremont High School senior Billy Green has been named the Utah finalist for the Wendy's High School Heisman Award. Green and Jordan's Jennie M. Haertel will move on to represent Utah in the national competition. From 107 seniors, 12 national semifinalists will be selected with the national winners named on Dec. 13-15 in New York City. "These students have been singled out as some of the most remarkable and inspiring seniors across the country," Wendy's CEO Tom Mueller said. "We are pleased to recognize them for their outstanding accomplishments. Green, of Plain City, is the student body president at Fremont, is a captain on the football and wrestling teams and also participates in track and field for the Silver Wolves. He is a two-time state 5-A heavyweight wrestling champion and a AAU national powerlifting champion. Editor's note: In a previous listing of state winners, Weber High's Jessica Buhrley was omitted from the list. 135 |
