Tuesday, January 19 Dr Frank W Bakers, birthday 79 I cooked a nice dinner and Dr took it over When he has been able to get out other years I have had him & Mrs Baker over for dinner now she is bed fast & Dr is not well either Still have a cold so did not go to Relief Society. The War looks very favorable to the Allies. To much to record here made apple pies & Banna bread Wednesday, January 20 I have had a buisy day. tho Dr tells me to lie down some every day. Blood pressure better slept well last night. Dr is quite buisy all the time. Did 23.00 just making examinations for people taking Feral Jobs. He & Dr Hancock get along well. Expected Oertel up today for Ladies Lit. but she did not come. Thursday, January 21 We have been rationed on sugar for a year, on gas several months on meat past two mo. and will soon be on every eatable product. Also on cloths. But we can do most any thing if we can win this War and be glad too. Tires have been rationed for nearly a year. Today at Washington: condensed and evaporated milk, jellies, jams, preserves, fruit butters, pickles, realishes processed fish, shell fish and food products containing meats to be rationed Claude R. Wickard. Dr came home very tired so turned down several calls. Friday, January 22 Recd a card from Stockton written by Blanch saying they, she & Junior, were leaving for Yuma Ariz where he is asigned to Air Base Hospital This terriable War is bringing many changes. Thankful our two boys are Drs and can do their work saving life rather than taking it. My cold is better have stayed at home more.
