E. Douglas announced today. Senor Ramon Lavalle, Argentine diplomat, was a witness to the raid on Tokyo by American flyers under Gen. Because he saw and learned too much, as a neutral diplomat, it was only through strong representation by his government that he, his wife and child were permitted by Tojos government to escape from the atmosphere of terror in Tokyo surrounding not only neutral diplomats but axis officials as well, said a club statement. Senor was consul in Hong Kong when it was taken from the British, and he was poisoned and narrowly escaped being killed after he cabled a frank account of the incident to Buenos Aires. He made his way to the United States by way of Russia, and has applied for American citizenship because of his opposition to Argentines foreign policy.
