Show Yank Airmen Hit Kiska In Six Raids U.S. (Official) By United Press WASHINGTON, D.C. May 7 A navy communique reported Friday that American fliers carried out six more attacks on Kiska Wednesday, scoring hits on the main camp area, harbor installations, the submarine base and beach areas. A number of fires were started in the beach section and one building was destroyed. The same day, fighter escorted heavy and medium bombers made four attacks on Attu, westernmost of the Aleutians. They scored hits on enemy installations and destroyed one plane. This brought to 36 the number of raids against Kiska in the first five days of May. There have been 181 since March 1. |
