Description	This collection contains 74 diaries of Dr. Edward Rich and his wife Almira. They begin in 1892 and run through 1965. The bulk of this collection centers on Almira's diaries that run from 1897-1947. During that time she documented her personal life and the medical practice of Edward, the community of Ogden and national events such as the outbreaks of WWI and WWII. The diaries also include newspaper and magazine clippings, memorabilia and pins.

OCR Text	Show Friday, May 7 I am 72 yr old today and have been married 49 fyr the 9th of April on which date Dr was 75 yr old. We have very much to be thankful for. Dr. Thair, Cloteel, Mary, Avon, Junior and Oertel and Oscar all sent greetings by letter, telegram, cards & gifts. Also two grand daguthers Janath Carmon in Boston and Claire Shaw in Texas. Recd many lovly gifts and congratulations form friends also Myrene gave a lovly dinner at which the family here, Lucile, Herber Ezra & Gladys attended. Saturday, May 8 Have enjoyed my letters cards, gifts & flowers today & have realized how greatly blessed I am. Axis Forces in Tunisia face doom. 80,000 to 100,000 axis soldiers still in Tunisia. Weber Hits High Mark May 1943 Weber county responded to the second war loan drive, recently concluded, to the tune of approximately 6,000,000, exclusive of bank allotments, or 200 per cent above its quota, George S. Eccles, area director of the war finance committee, announced today. The state quota, exclusive of bank allotments, was over subscribed 25 per cent, Mr. Eccles said. Sunday, May 9 Dr and I went to 5 Ward Sunday School. A Mothers Day programme was given. I was ask to give the opening prayer. Dr and others complimented me. Broth Markham of the High Council gave a wonderful tlak on the war mothers and how they are responding in work, faith & courage. Spoke of the gold star mothers. Music Jessie Richs daughter sang two solos. Flowers were given each mother present. We, Dr & I had dinner with Blanch and family. Called on Bakers. I recd letters & gifts from all our children, my sister Lucile and Janath Maren. We attended Sacrament meeting. Pres. Critchlow was the speaker. Monday, May 10 Have spent the day at home Wrote to Avon, and rested some this afternoon. Allies Blast Nazis at Cape Bon; Thousands surrender to Yanks; Axis Suffers Invasion Jitters; Headlines in Standard this A.M. very incouraging. Resistance Collapses of Bizerte N. Africa Sicily may be next with heavy bets on Italy. Six mo. fighting & driving back Axis
