Friday, February 12 Have spent most of the day working on clipping book of the war in 1942. Rested for awhile this afternoon Lucile came in for awhile. Dr & I spent the evening reading and listening to Pres Franklin D. Roosevelt broadcast to the world some of intentions of his & Churchills conference at Casablanca two weeks ago. Did up the dishes for two days. Saturday, February 13 This A.M. I spent two hr down town. Bought me a Spring hat and two scrapbooks since no more will be made during the War. This afternoon I spent at Blanchs home with her sister Talitha, Gean & Dorothy, my Sister Lucile and daughters Myrene & Cleone. I enjoy them all so much. Sister Estela Hansen recd word that her son in Japan is a prisoner. Sunday, February 14 Dr and I attended Sunday School. We had dinner with Cleone & family. Called on Blanch and the children. Gave the children Valentines. Also Myrenes children, Myrene & Joe took their children up to slide & skate near Huntsville. Dr called to see the Bakers. Myrene called this evening. We listened to radio programme from the church and read until quite late. Major Junior Edward Rich, who has been recently stationed at Stockton, Calif., field with the U.S. medical air corps, has been transferred to the Yuma, Ariz., air base, where he will act as chief of surgery. Mrs. Rich joined him at Stockton and accompanied him to Yuma for a couple of weeks. She is now at home. Feb. 14 43
