Thursday, January 7. Beautiful day Mild weather. Did not get up until 10 A.M. Dr had prepared hot cakes for his breakfast and had gone by 0 A.M. He wishes to do this and as a rule does. We retired last night at 10 P.M. I did not get to sleep until after 12 P.M. and then was obliged to take Aminol. Have my own bed and room so seldom disturbe Dr. He is a wonderful sleeper and I am the reverse. More C. Cozzens called by phone to say good by on his way to Moffit Field Calif he is commisioned in the Navy. A grand boy my Nephew. Martha Cooley called also Cleone. Attended Ladies Legative Club. Friday, January 8 Beautiful day. I have taken down Christmas decorations and but away colection from Central America and vacumed cleaned the three large rooms down stairs. Dr & I called to see Myrene and children. She has a dear family of six. Mary has been walking since she was 9 mo. old and is a very smart cute baby. Myrene still has no help Joe Jr. has a paper route & is a fine boy. Saturday, January 9 Have spent today getting my home in order so have worked all day. Douglas Hancock came from Chapel Hill U.S. training center for Navy men has completed his training there so had furlow to visite his parents. He & my sister Lucile his mother called. He is now an insign in the Air Corps & will soon be sent over seas. A fine looking boy. Dr and I sat up late reading & I did some knitting for Red Cross. All my bills paid. Talked to Oertel in S.L.C. over phone all fine. Sunday, January 10 Colder today. Dr and I attended Sunday School had dinner at Cleones, called on Dr & Mrs Baker. Dr had confinement case. This evening we went to Sacrament Service. Hall was the speaker subject Why I am a Mormon. Very good sermon. Retire at 11 P.M. My House This is my house of deep content, And after each day is done, I reconstruct how each hour was spent, And glory in all the fun.
