Saturday, August 7 Dont miss seeing and hearing the Aloha Sugar Mill. It is captivating. The tunes are catchy. Last evening many in the audience were whistling and humming the melodies they were so appealing. Every one in the operetta was given an ovation. Gladys Rich was enthusiastically applauded. That was the urge given to me this morning as one of our reporters came in to see me. The place was crowded last evening and the audience was carried away with the acting, the dancing and the music, said the reporter. And I was advised not to miss the performance this evening at the USO. Sunday, August 8 Dr & I went to Sunday School. After lunch at home Dr Cleone Eccles, & I drove to S.L.C. to take Naomia Hendricks & her friend Mrs Ellison of Ventura Calif. They have spent the past week at Dr Ezras home in Canon. We had a nice visite with Oertel & called on Maren & Ralph Hurdy. Enjoyed the ride home. Monday, August 9 Mrs Gladys Simpson Pres. of D.U.P. & I called at U.S.O to see Mrs Stevens Sup. Of USO to see what we could do in regard to putting on Aloha Sugar Mill. She gave us to understand if we put it on before 2 or 3 month she would be much offended. Tho we had consent of Miss Rich and most of the cast. (Selfish I say)? Tuesday, August 10 Lucile Hancock my sister gave a lovly luncheon for 15 people for her daughter in law Elane Johns wife. This evening Dr & Mrs W.H. Petty were our guests at steak dinner at Dicks Caf after which we spent a pleasant evening here at home. Dr showed some of his pictures.
