Show Commander Hails Tunisian Results Exclusive; N. Y. Times Salt Lake Tribune ALLIED FORCE HEADQUARTERS, North Africa, May 7 General Sir Harold R. L. G. Alexander, field commander of the allied armies in Tunisia, declared Friday in a special order of the day that we have grouped our victorious armies and are going to drive the enemy into the sea. General Alexander asserted further that the last phase of the campaign had been reached and that we have the enemy with their back to the walls. Copyright by N. Y. Times ALGIERS, May 7 General Henri Giraud issued an order of the day hailing the liberation of Tunis and Bizerte for Joan of Arc day Saturday, and declaring forward to victory. The order of the day to be relayed to the French troops in the field said: On Joan of Arc day May 8 Tunis has been liberated, Bizerte has been set free. Honor to the British army, honor to the American army, honor to you soldiers of France who fought without arms, without clothes, without boots, but who believed in victory and the vanquished. Forward to victory! |
