Show August 31, 2002 Citizens Rejoice, One Project Done! I-15 work done one month early OGDEN - Interstate 15 travel is getting a little better a little sooner than expected. The Utah Department of Transportation announced Friday the 3 1/2-mile stretch of I-15 between the 31st Street exit and 450 North in Marriott-Slaterville is completely open. The improvement project was scheduled to be completed by the end of September. But crews for Granite Construction Co. worked seven days a week to come in under the deadline and will receive offered incentives from UDOT. All exits within the construction area are open as well. ...and continues. Oct. 27, 2002 F. Intersection of 12th Street, State Road 39 and 1900 West, State Road 126 in Marriott-Slaterville -Project scope includes intersection improvements and the replacement of the railroad bridge and Weber River bridge on 1900 West. Additionally the roadway will be widened to four lanes on 1900 West between 1800 South and 1200 South and on 12th Street from I-15 to just west of the 1900 West intersection. Periods of no work will be required throughout the project's duration for fill settlement. Motorists are advised of narrow travel lanes and lane shifts in the vicinity of the 12th Street/1900 West intersection. The northern and western legs of the intersection of 12th Street/1900 West are closed for material placement, and detours are in place for through traffic. Traffic movements on the southern and eastern legs will remain in place, right-hand turns from northbound 1900 West to eastbound 12th Street and left-hand turns from westbound 12th Street to southbound 1900 West will not be affected. Heavy delays are expected in the vicinity of the intersection and motorists are advised to seek alternate routes: Southbound 1900 West traffic will be detoured at 700 South to 1200 West. Northbound 1900 West through traffic will be detoured at 1800 South to 2700 West and 700 South. Eastbound 12th Street traffic will be detoured at 2700 West to 1800 South. Westbound 12th Street through traffic will be detoured at 1900 West to 1800 South and 2700 West. Expected completion is fall 2003. Michael Halacy Property October 25, 2002 Fire burns up auto parts, shed MARRIOTT-SLATERVILLE - A shed fire that spread to a garage caused up to $18,000 in damage. Weber Fire Capt. Chuck Stokes said the cause of the Wednesday blaze, at 3335 W. Pioneer Road, is undetermined. The three-sided shed where the fire began was destroyed along with auto parts and firewood that was in it. The garage received minor damage, Stokes said. Crews were on scene for two hours mopping up the mess. 57 September 15, 2002 But Another One Continues, and Gets Worse... I. Due to additional congestion associated with the adjacent I-15 repair project, motorists should expect 5 to 10 minute delays during peak hour traffic. Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible. Expected completion is fall. |
