Show The Pioneer Post Volume X Issue 8 Marriott-Slaterville City Newsletter August 2008 1570 West 400 North - Phone 801-627-1919 LOCAL UPDATES Music in the Park that was scheduled on August 16th is cancelled because no performers were available. The city obtained a grant from UDOT to install curb, gutter, and sidewalk on the east side of 1600 West to Pioneer Elementary School. UDOT will handle this project for the City. It is anticipated that the project will commence this fall. The City obtained a R.A.M.P. (Recreation, Arts, Museums, Parks) grant to reconstruct the Slaterville Park Bowery. The old bowery has deteriorated to a point where there are structural hazards. The new bowery will have a kitchen, storage area, ADA restrooms, and other amenities. Thanks is given to the park committee for their work on our parks. The City obtained a matching grant for playground equipment for at Marriott Park and behind the city office. A fence will also be installed at the Marriott Park as part of a security plan to help reduce ongoing vandalism problems at the park. Please contact law enforcement if you see vandalism occurring in the city. For other matters, including park reservations or other questions contact the city office at 627-1919. CHIP SEAL PROJECTS POSTPONED Because of a shortage in chip seal oil, all road chip seal projects scheduled in the City for this summer are postponed until next year. Similarly, scheduled road chip seal projects in the unincorporated county have also been postponed._ CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS Storm drain line from 12th Street to 800 South to be complete by September 1. Demolition and reconstruction of Slaterville Bowery to be complete by November 1. Fencing and playground equipment at Marriott Park to be complete by September 1. Sidewalk to Pioneer Elementary on 1600 West. I-15 reconstruction to be complete by September 1. UDOT project - utility work and reconstruction of 12th Street from I-15 to Washington Blvd to be complete in mid-2009._ PLANNING COMMISSION TUESDAY, AUGUST 19, 2008 - 7:00 P.M. 1. Call to Order/Pledge of Allegiance. 2. Approval of minutes. 3. Public hearing on proposal by Jeff Will to amend zoning map from A-l to C-2P for IRS building at approximately 1500 South 1200 West. 4. Discussion/action on public hearing. 5. Discussion/action on Ordinance on proposal to amend general plan from light residential to manufacturing and commercial by Frank Blair in the vicinity of 400 North similar to 1990 Plan. 6.
