The secret for retaining fluent French for 53 years since serving a 3-year mission to the Franco-Belge Mission, 1922-25, is speaking it every day, said Mr. Anderson. ‘See my pins,’’ said Mr. Anderson, proudly pushing back his navy-blue parka and exhibiting the pins on his pocket. The top block ‘‘W’’ was presented to honor him for spearheading a student fund raising drive in 1922 that resulted in $100,000 for the “new” gym on the lower campus. Mr. Anderson and others gave talks at church and civic gatherings to stir up support and enthusiasm. He wants to be able to understand ‘‘what they’re saying about me.’’ His wife wants to go to Spain and he’s strong on Mexico. ‘I’m being very diplomatic about it,”’ he said. 13 were |
