Sadler Dr. Gordon T. Allred Four faculty members at Weber State College have been selected to receive this year’s Presidential Distinguished Professor Awards. They are Dr. Ruth D. Brown, associate professor of nursing; Dr. Richard W. Sadler, professor of History; Dr. Gordon T. Allred, professor of English, and Dr. Benne Williams professor of psychology. The four were chosen from a field of 24 nominees for the awards, which are being made by Dr. Rodney H. Brady, WSC president. Each of the recipients will receive a $2,000 cash award and a $1,000 expense allowance to be used for professional development, as approved by the vice president for academic affairs. Dr. Brown has been on the WSC faculty since 1975. She also served on the faculties of the Dee School of Nursing, the University of Utah, and the University of Washington. She was chosen ‘Teacher of the Year’’ from the WSC School of Allied Health Sciences during the 1979-80 year. Dr. Brown is a member of numerous professional and honorary associations, including the Noel studentbody president of ‘80-81, Utah Association of Academic Professions, the Utah Mental Health Association, Phi Kappa Phi, and director of the Ogden Livestock Show, he is a long-time member of the Utah Symphony Board, and is currently general chairman of the University of Utah Medical Center Page 2 and project chairman. | The project will include new to soil, grading, fertilizer, and burla mesh to serve as a soil retainer.| the American Nursing Association, and the National League of Nursing. In announcing his selections, Dr. Brady said ‘‘These four professors are recognized by students, peers, and alumni as outstanding professors who have provided many years of extraordinary service at Weber State College.”’ He said ‘‘They also possess attributes which qualify them as master teachers in that they are indeed masters of their subjects and they keep up to date in their fields by engaging in related research.”’ ‘“They are especially effective communicators of their knowledge to students, and they motivate their students to obtain learning beyond the classroom environment,’’ he added. names of donors to the project listed.
