Show ee ~ Alumnews 1930's Sa aehibesthsi taeiasweeses rene Lila (Peters) Burgoyne ‘30, was named “Woman of the Year" by four chapters, Eta, Zeta, Alpha and Alpha Alpha, of Delta Kappa Gamma {an international honorary society for women educators}. Mrs. Burgoyne worked as a librarian in the Salt Lake School District for 22 years. She-is the mother of six children and has been active in politics and church work. She earned a bachelor of arts degree from Utah State University in 1933. Randall C. Robins '73, has been promoted to Assistant Sales Manager of Weyerhaeuser Company’s New Oriented Strand Board Mill in Grayling, Michigan. He relocated from Seattle, Washington—headquarters of the Weyerhaeuser Company. David J. Pace '74, of Lewiston, N.Y., has been promoted to sales trainer for professional products at Norwich Eaton Pharmeceuticals. Pace is a native of Ogden. He is married to the former Elisabeth Hut and they are the parents of six children. Sister Stephanie (nee Joan C.) Wardle OSB ‘64, was honored as one of the 10 Outstanding Women of Idaho at a luncheon held May 10, 1984. The luncheon was sponsored by White Rose on behalf of the March of Dimes for Birth Defects. Sister Stephanie taught school in Salt Lake City, Ogden and various locations in Idaho. She entered the congregation of St. Gertrude, Cottonwood, Idaho, in August 1966. She has been the Executivg Director of the Southeast Idaho Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse, is a counselor, was instrumental in establishing “The Lord’s Kitchen” for the. needy and hungry in Garden City, Idaho, and is the: present Director of Vocations for her community. Se Sa on oo ‘ PERT po oe 1960's David M. Wheeler '74, has been appointed superintendent of the Idaho Division of the Union Pacific Railroad System. Wheeler began at UP in the engineering department. He went on to become a management trainee, terminal trainmaster at Los Angeles, trainmaster at Grand Island, Nebraska. He has served as superintendent of the Kansas and California wer ee. Steven D. Kofoed ‘75, was recently promoted to Manager of Tax Compliance for Northwest Energy Company, based in Salt Lake City. He has been with the company for six years. Wells ‘69, and Patty {Goodfellow} Hol- ly, Lisa, Mindy, Crissy, Melissa and Danny, have appeared on TV's CBS Sports Saturday, P.M. Magazine, Channel 2° Sports, Talent Showcase and CBS Sports Spectacular. They have performed and competed nationally in sports acrobatics, tumbling and trampoline and have won several national championships. They own and manage USA Gymanstics World in Layton and Clinton, Utah and have plans to open new facilities in the Newgate Mall in Ogden and the Sugarhouse Mall in Salt Lake Dennis L. Dallinga ‘70, is serving as Assisiant Vice President and Mortgage and Loan Officer at the Fourth South Office of First Security Bank of Utah. He resides in Clearfield, Utah. epee. Diane Rockwell Plein ‘72, ‘is currently an underwriter (auto and home insurance} for Continental Insurance Companies. She has been with this firm for the past five years. She also recently became a realtor for Red Carpet O'Keefe in Sun City, Arizona. - Weber State College COMMENT Jane Magee '75, began first-year law studies at Whittier College School of Law in Los Angeles. The college offers the traditional three-year Juris Doctor program, enabling graduates to take the bar examination of any state. Magee graduated from Weber witha B.S. in Zoology. Francis Xavier O’Brien '76, has received a master of science degree in Public Administration from Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania at commencement services held May 5, 1984. Kenneth G. Ladd '76, has accepted a position of Vice President for Consumer Services at Nevada National Bank in Las Vegas. He has been manager of Comimercial Security Bank at 25th and Washington in Ogden. 1970's June 1984 page 8 Captain F. Michael Real '77, has assumed command of D Company, 10th Engineer Battalion, Kitzingen, West Germany. Gregory L. Dawes '82, has been assigned to Presidio of Monterey, California, after completing Air Force Basic Training at Lackland Judy Dennis Roomsburg '78, is a captain in the U.S. Air Force stationed at Norton AFB, California. She earned her master of arts degree in Counseling Psychology from Chapman College in Orange, Ca., in 1983. She was selected as the Outstanding Company Grade Officer of the Year 1983 for Norton AFB. She resides in Highland, Ca. sion, organization and customs and received special instruction in human relations. He will now receive specialized instruction in the voice processing field. Lennie A Brown ‘79, is a_ professional counselor at the Clearfield Job Corps Center. She has completed coursework for a master’s degree in Social Service Administration. She is a member of UAADV, and was named Woman of the Year, 1983, Bonneville Business and Professional Women. Michael H. Gale '75, has been appointed manager of Purchasing and Material Control for the Great Salt Lake Minerals and Chemicals Corporation in Ogden. He is a member of the Purchasing Management Association of Utah and resides in North Ogden with his wife Jeri and two children. Wells ‘75, and their seven children: Mike, Suzie Beeby ‘82, completed her MPA degree at the University of Utah in August 1983. She has accepted a position as Training Services Officer with the Salt Lake Airport Authority. Robert F. Stauffer ‘78, graduated with his M.D. degree and will begin his internship this month at the Dwight David Eisenhower Army Medical Center at Augusta, Gerogia. He is married to the former miss Julie Sase ‘78. Divisions. Joe Glen Hugh Mills '77, recently received his Real Estate Principle Broker License and is Opening a new company. He resides in Clearfield, Utah. Michael E. Hadley '77, is the manager of the Layton Hills Mall Office of First Security Bank of Utah, N.A. He is also a member of the Layton Kiwanis Club, and resides in Clearfield, Utah. Brian E. Marston ‘77, is employed by First Security Bank of Utah as a Mortgage Loan Officer in the Davis County Mortgage Loan Division at the Layton Hills Mall Office. He is a member of the Kaysville Jaycees and resides in Kaysville. Captain Ronald G. Driggs '79, has been docorated with the Meritorious Service Medal at Carswell Air Force Base, Texas. He is a production section supervisor with the 4235th Strategic Training Squadron. AFB. Dettweiler ‘83, has been promoted to the rank of Senior Airman in the U.S. Air Force. She is an avionics attack systems specialist at HAFB, Utah, with the 4487th Aircraft Generation Squadron. Richard A. Lamb '83, was commissioned an Army second lieutenant upon graduating from the Officer Candidate School, Fort Benning, Georgia. During the 14-week course, Lamb was trained in leadership, small unit tactics and infantry weapons. He also received instruction in map and aerial photograph reading and communications. Lance D. Hamner '84, received a full tuition fellowship at the Indiana University College of Law and will enroll in law school in the fall of 1984. 1980's misc. Suzette Ahrendt ‘80, “I traded Park City, Utah, for Ponder, Texas, to go to work for American Airlines as a flight attendant. Between working and trying to overcome jet-lag, I am traveling around seeing what the rest of the world is like. My base is Dallas/Forth Worth, Texas.” Elmer F. Clark '80, transferred from Hill Air Force Base to Eglin AFB, Florida as a contract negotiator. Although he has been in Utah for 17-and-a-half years, Clark is enthusiastic about his move to Florida. Daniel J. Hawkes ‘80, has been a commissioned U.S. Air Force Officer for the past four years. He was promoted to the rank of captain May 14, 1984. He is currently assigned to the 548th Reconnaissance Technical Group at Hickam AFB, Hawaii, and functions as chief, Maintenance and Logistics Division. He was recently chosen as Junior Officer of the Quarter, an honor few receive. Thomas F. Vegenas ‘80, has been assigned to Chanute AFB, Illinois, after completing Air Force Basic Training at Lackland AFB, Texas. Airman Vagenas studied the Air Force mission, organization and customs and received special training in human relations. He will now receive specialized instruction in the aircraft maintenance field. Maria Lavonne Fisher ‘81, has been attending Loyola University and received a bachelor ' of arts degree in Communications on May 21, 1984. She resides in New Orleans, Louisiana. Theodore N. Legendre ‘81, was transferred from Fort Devens, Massachusetts, to Fort McPherson, Georgia, in April, 1984. He is Public Affairs Officer Intern for the U.S. Army Forces Command (FORSCOM). The internship is a two-year program and upon completion he will be assigned as a public affairs officer at any Army post in the world. Jean (Holbrook) Mathews graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor of education degree from the University of Missouri-—St. Louis. She is a teacher, free-lance writer and professional vocal soloist. She is a member, National and Missouri. Orders of Women Legislators, American Legislative Exchange Council, Na- tional and Missouri Federations of Republican Women, National Association for Neighborhood Schools, Kappa Delta Phi Educational Society, Florissant Valley Chamber of Commerce, Missouri Citizens for Life, Business and Professional Women of Florissant. She is Florissant Township Republican Committeewoman and Secretary to the Republican State Committee. She was selected as an Outstanding Young Woman of America in 1974 and is listed in Who's Who in American Politics. She was elected to the Missouri House of Representatives in 1980, and was selected as one of the "Rookies of the Year" in 1981 by the Missouri Times. She serves on the Judiciary, Consumer Protection, Employment Security and Revenue and Economics Committees. She has also served on the Speaker's Select Interim Tax Committee. She was reelected in 1982. |
