Show Testing Center selors, from the Weber State College Testing Center, or by writing ACT Registration, P.O. Box 414, Iowa City, Iowa 52240. Residual ACT or the local administration of the ACT is given prior to the beginning of each quarter for students who will be attending Weber State College and did not take the National ACT test. The residual ACT will be given on the following dates: 1981-82 May 16,1981 June 6,1981 Aug. 15,1981 Sept. 5,1981 Sept. 12,1981 Dec. 5,1981 Jan. 16,1982 Feb. 13,1982 March 6, 1982 1982-83 May 15,1982 June 5,1982 Aug. 14,1982 Sept. 4,1982 Sept. 11,1982 Dec. 5,1982 Jan. 15,1983 Feb. 12,1983 March 5, 1983 Students should register for the test at the Testing Center in the Library, Room 45, at least one day before the test date. The fee is $12.00. 2. College Level Examination Program (CLEP)—The CLEP examinations are offered during the third week of each month at testing centers throughout the United States. Registration forms may be obtained at the Testing Center or by writing to College Entrance Examination Board, Box 1824, Princeton, New Jersey 08540. The fee is $20 for each exam. The CLEP tests are offered at Weber State College as follows: a. General Examinations are offered on the third Saturday of each month. Students who are interested in taking the test should submit their registration form and a check or money order payable to CLEP to the Testing Center at least two days before the test date. b. Subject Examinations are offered on the third Saturday of each month. Registration forms and fees should be returned to the Testing Center at least 15 school days before the test date. 3. General Education Development (GED)—Utah residents (18 years and older) who have not graduated from high school may take the GED battery of tests as partial fulfillment of the application requirements for Weber State College. The tests are administered Thursdays at 1 p.m. and the first Saturday of each month at 8 A.M. IN THE Soc. Sci. Bldg. Rm. 103. Registration for the test and payment of the $10 fee may be completed at the time the first test is taken. 4. Graduate School Admissions Tests—Candidates applying to the Graduate program in Education are required to write either the GRE Aptitude Test or the Miller Analogy Test as part of the admission procedures. Test dates and fees are as follows: a. Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) are offered on the following test date for 1980-81: June 13, 1981. For the 1981-82 school year on October 17, 1981, December 12, 19181, February 6, 1981, April 24, 1981 and June 12, 1981. Test dates for the 1981-83 school year were not available at the time of this publication. b. Miller Analogy Test (MAT)—The MAT is administered at the WSC Soc. Sci. Bldg. Rm. 103 Thursdays at 1 p.m. and the first Saturday of each month at 8 a.m. The fee is $10.00. Registration may be completed on the test day. Most other tests may be taken at the Testing Center Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. and Friday 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. The Testing Center is located in the Library, Room 45. SERVICES FOR HANDICAPPED STUDENTS Services for Disabled Students at Weber State College were organized to coordinate support services for students with physical impairments. This office coordinates the 40 (Ethnic Services) following services: interpreting, note-taking, reading, counseling, career planning and placement, parking, tutoring, housing, wheelchair attendance, legal and medical assistance, access to TTY machine, and other needs disabled students might have. Weber State College prohibits discrimination on the basis of handicap in accordance j with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. Discrimination is prohibited in : recruitment for admission, admission and treatment of students, housing, financial assistance, employment, counseling and placement services, health services, physical education and athletics, social organization, etc. ETHNIC SERVICES The Ethnic Services Program at Weber State College is designed to improve the educational offerings to the culturally different student. Ethnic services has the following objectives: 1. To attract and increase the numbers of culturally different students on campus and assist them in every possible way to successfully complete their higher education. Recruitment, academic and personal advisement, and tutorial services are provided to this end. 2. To infuse existing courses with relevant ethnic content and initiate new courses in campus departments which emphasize the positive aspects of the culturally different. 3. To create a climate whereby a healthy exchange of ideas, cultures, and opinion differences can take place and be resolved between majority and minority groups. 4. To assist in recruiting and increasing the number of minority faculty members to provide the much needed role models for minority students. 5. To establish positive relationships with the minority community, to help make college more desirable and accessible; and with the majority community, to broaden their understanding of the problems, needs, and cul-1 tural differences of minorities. LEARNING CENTER The Learning Center provides a variety of Services designed to assist students in I achieving their academic goals. The following services are available in the basement of the library or at Satellite Centers located on campus. Educational Planning provides one-to-one assistance in the development of one, two and four year educational plans. Academic Tutoring is provided in most academic subject areas and is designed to help students at all ability levels. Basic Skills Instruction assists students in gaining college level reading, writing, spelling, vocabulary and mathematic skills. Personal Development Instruction assists students in acquiring effective study and test taking skills; in overcoming a lack of academic motivation, and the motivation of behavior that gets in the way of one being an effective student. Individualized Learning Programs to assist students in improvement of academic skills. Programs are developed in many subject areas in cooperation with appropriate academic departments. Modularized Reading Programs in general comprehension, skimming and scanning, critical reading, increasing reading rate, etc. Educational Equipment that students may need to complete assignments such as computer terminals, calculators, video and audio tape players and film strip and slide projectors. All Learning Center educational programs are developed in cooperation with the appropriate academic departments. Many of the above listed programs provide college credit. 41 |
