Show Social Sciences Pol ice science Social Sciences — Police Science Program: Departmental Honors (Corrections and Law Enforcement) I. General Requirements: A. Enroll in the General Honors Program and complete 10 hours of General Honors courses. B. Maintain an overall G. P. A. of 3.3. C. Fulfill the requirements for the departmental major. II. Specific Requirements: A. In fulfilling the major, complete at least 15 hours on an Honors basis. B. In addition, complete 3 hours in Directed Readings, 483, and 2 hours in Seminar, 499. C. A student may take the following courses on an Honors basis: CLEE 235, 236, 239, 302, 304, 312, 406, 408, and 410. (Corrections Honors: 233, 234, 313, and 339.) D. Permission from the department chairman should be sought before registering in a course for Honors credit. A written agreement should be reached with the appropriate professor regarding the work expected for Honors credit. Program: Law Enforcement Minor I. General Requirements: A. A grade of C or better in minor courses. II. Specific Requirements: A. Minimum of 25 hours of credit in Law Enforcement courses. B. Courses Required: 130 (3), 131 (3), 132 (3), 133 (3), 134 (3), and 135 (3). C. Courses to elect from: Seven (7) hours of upper division work selected from the following in consultation with an advisor: 302 (3), 304 (3), 309 (4), 312 (3), 403 (2), 406 (3), 410 (3), 470 (3), 483 (1-5), 486 (2), 499 (2), 411 (4), 412 (4), 413 (4), 414 (4), 415 (5). Program: Law Enforcement-Associate of Science Degree I. General Requirements: A. Specific course requirements of the college. The state requirement in American History, Government, and Economics does not need to be completed. General Education requirements C. An overall G. P. A. of 2.00 or C is required. D. 93 total hours are required. II. Specific Requirements: A. Minimum of 24 credit hours in Law Enforcement courses. B. Law Enforcement courses required: 130 (3), 131 (3), 132 (3), 133 (3), 134 (3), and 135 (3). C. Two additional lower division Law Enforcement courses numbered 100-299. E. Corrections majors must have an overall GPA of 2.00 or C. F. 183 total hours are required for this degree. G. Sixty of the 183 total hours must be upper division (courses numbered 300 and above). II. Specific Requirements: (on and off-campus) A. Minimum of 40 credit hours must be taken (as specified below) with 15 hours in upper division work. B. Specific Courses Required: 1. CLEE 130,131,132. Corrections 486 and 499. Any two of Psychology 330, 431; Social Work 370, 230. Corrections 330 plus one of Business Management 301, Social Work 462, or Political Science 370. One of the following: Corrections 313; Political Science 111; or Sociology 427. Three courses from Psychology 154, 345, 300; Social Work 213; Sociology 311, 315, 475, 490, 340, 327; Child and Family Studies 340. 7. One of the following: Corrections 238 and 234, Sociology 304 and 498. 8. One of Sociology 360 or Psychology 360, C. The following courses are recommended as part of the 183 hours and could be taken as electives: English 322; Psychology 200, 261, 276, 310, 314, 325, 327, 334, 446; Law Enforcement SS101, 205, 210, 410; Political Science 110, 401, 473, 476; Social Work 130, 460, 372; Sociology 102, 208, 302, 321, 323, 360, 410; Communications 113, 232; Philosophy HU112, SS410; Business 325, 330, 440, 470; Child and Family Studies 150. 2. 3. 4. 6. Program: Corrections Major — Associate of Science Degree I. Same as Law Enforcement. II. Specific Requirements: A. Minimum of 21 credit hours must be taken (as specified below). CLEE 130 (3), 131 (3), and 132 (3); Corrections 313 (3). B. One course from Corrections 233 (3) or 234 (3). C. One course from Sociology 101 (5), Psychology 330 (3) or 431 (3). D. One course from Sociology 130 (5), Social Work 370 (3) or 460 (3). Program: Corrections Major — Bachelor Degree I. General Requirements: A. Specific course requirements of the college. B. Bachelor Degree General Education requirements. C. A minor is required. D. Corrections majors must have a C or better in major courses. Program: Corrections Minor I. General Requirements: A. A grade of C or better in minor courses. II. Specific Requirements: A. Minimum of 21 credits in Corrections and Law Enforcement Education courses. B.
