James Smith. Program: Business Economics Major—Bachelor Degree I. General Requirements: A. See School of Business and Economics requirements. II. Specific Requirements: A. Economics core courses required (23 credit hours): Economics 274 (5); 301* (4) and 302* (4), 309 (4), 320 (4), 480 (two credit hours in the selected area of concentration). B. Select a minimum of twelve credit hours in any of the following adviser-approved areas of concentration: 1. Decision Theory: Economics 455 (4); classes may also be selected from related areas such as Management, Data Processing, Mathe- mstics etc 2. Economics of Public Service: Economics 330 (3), 430 (4), 432 (4); classes may also be selected from related areas such as Management, Political Science, etc. 3. International Trade and Business: Economics 311 (3), 312 (3), 419 (3); classes may also be selected from related areas such as Marketing, Finance, Political Science, History, Foreign Language, etc. 4. Manpower and Industrial Relations: Economics 340 (5); classes may also be selected from related areas such as Management, Marketing, Finance, Sociology, etc. 5. Natural Resource Economics: Economics 361 (3), 364 (3), 432 (4); classes may also be selected from related areas such as Sociology, Environmental Sciences, History, etc. ♦Whichever is not selected to satisfy the core (courses selected to satisfy core cannot be used in major 98 Program: General Economics Major—Bachelor of Arts Degree I. General Requirements: A. Specific course requirements of the college (see index). Economics 274 (5) or 430 (4) is recommended to satisfy the state requirement. B. Bachelor of Arts Degree General Education requirements (see index). 1. Economics 101 (5), 102 (3); Psychology 101 (5) or Sociology 101 (5) or Anthropology 101 (5) in the Social Science area are required for Business majors. 2. Mathematics PSI15 (5) in the Physical Science area. Placement score set by Math Department. C. Minor is required. D. General Economics majors must have a 2.25 G. P. A. or better in major courses. A "D" grade is not permitted in major courses. E. General Economics majors must have an overall G.P.A. of 2.00 or C. F. 183 total hours are required for this degree. G. Sixty of the 183 total hours must be upper division (courses numbered 300 and above). II. Specific Requirements: A. Economics courses required: Economics 160 (4), 260, 261 (4); SS 274 (5) or 375 (3), 386 (3), 417 (4), 419 (3), 430 (4), 432 (4), 455 (4), 492 (1-6). B. Courses to elect from (five credit hours): Economics 274 (5), 292 (1-6), 311 (3) 312 (3), 330 (3), 340 (5), 361 (3), 364 (3), 375 (3), 386 (3),417 (4), 419 (3),' 430 (4), 432 (4), 455 (4), 492 (1-6). Business and Economics — Economics Support courses required: 1. Accounting 102 (4), 202 (4); Data Processing 101 (4); one of the following: Management 330 (4); 325 (4) or Marketing 301 (4). 2. Select at least one class from each of the following groups: a. Law: Political Science 401 (5); Business Administration 320 (4). b. Philosophy: English 388 (3); Philosophy 116 (5), 320 (3). c. Organization: Economics 417 (4); Management 301 (4); Political Science 110 (5), 111 (4), 370 (5), 375 (4), 381 (5). d. International Studies: Economics 311 (3), 419 (3) ; Anthropology 310 (5), Philosophy 307 (3); History 433 (5), 440 (5), 451 (3), 459 (3), 461 (5), 470 (5); Political Science 381 (5), 383 (3), 384 (3), 385 (3), 448 (5). Twenty-four credit hours in foreign language and all other basic requirements for the Bachelor of Arts degree. 3. Composite Teaching Major in Business Education (Economics)—(See Composite and Interdepartmental Programs.) Social Science Composite Teaching Major—(See Composite and Interdepartmental Programs.) Program: Economics Minor for Business and Non-Business Majors I. General Requirements: A. A grade of C or better in minor courses. B. Pre Business Core does not apply to non-business minor programs. II. Specific Requirements: A. Minimum of 23 credit hours in Economics courses. B. Non-business majors—A baccalaureate degree candidate who is not seeking a major in the School of Business and Economics may obtain a minor in Economics by completing the following requirements: 1. Economics courses required (twelve credit hours): Economics 101 (5), 102 (3); 301 (4) or 302 (4). 2. Courses to elect from (eleven credit hours): Economics 160 (4), 260 (4), 161 (4), SS, 274 (5), 292 (1-6), 301 (4), 302 (4), 309 (4), 311 (3), 312 (3), 320 (4), 330 (3), 340 (5), 361 (3), 364 (3), 375 (3), 386 (3), 417 (4), 419 (3), 430 (4), 432 (4), 455 (4), 480 (1-5), 492 (1-6). C. School of Business and Economics majors—A student majoring in the School of Business and Economics may obtain a minor by completing a minimum of 15 additional credits in Economics beyond those required in the core of the School of Business and Economics and/or in their selected major. Program: Economics Teaching Minor I. General Requirements: A. A grade of C or better in minor courses. B. The Pre-Business core does not apply. II. Specific Requirements: A. Minimum of 24 credit hours in Economics courses. B. Economics courses required (thirteen credit hours): Economics 101 (5), 102 (3), 274 (5). C. Elect eleven credit hours of approved Economics courses. D. Support courses required: Communications 102 (3) or its equivalent and Education 450 (3). Asian Studies Minor—The Department of Economics participates in the Asian Studies Minor Program. A student who wishes to participate should indicate his desire to do so with the departmental Asian Studies representative who will help the student work out a proper combination of courses to fit his particular needs.
