The completion of the Fine Arts Center during the 1965-66 school year provided the college with excellent buildings for the fine arts. These facilities include an auditorium with 1800 seating capacity, a separate theatre with 335 seating capacity and a separate building for the art department. These buildings not only provide the students and faculty with excellent facilities for these departments but also enable the college to present, on campus, the Utah Symphony Orchestra, Utah Ballet, nationally recognized individuals and groups, excellent art exhibits, and many productions originating in the college. The new $1,500,000 Library, used during 1965-66, is proving to be an effective learning center. During the 1966-67 school year the following buildings should be under construction: Science Building, $3,600,000; Administration Building, $770,000; facilities for the social sciences, education, business, humanities, $5,000,000; maintenance building, $450,000; additional student housing, $2,000,000; and an addition to the Union Building of $2,000,000. Weber has been noted for its excellent faculty. During 1966-67 the full time faculty will number more than 260. These individuals have received advanced degrees from the major universities of the country and several have degrees from universities in other countries. The success of Weber graduates, when they enter employment or continue in graduate schools, attests to the high quality and effective efforts of our faculty. This catalog describes the educational opportunities available for the 1966-67 school year at Weber State College. I trust that those who attend will take full advantage of these opportunities to prepare themselves more fully to live successfully in our rapidly changing society. William P. Miller President 11 |
