Department of Licensed Practical Nursing Instructors Karen Beaver, Head; Rayda McDermott and JoAnn Balls. The Department of Licensed Practical Nursing offers a one- year (52 weeks) curriculum in practical nursing which qualifies the student, upon successful completion of the program, to take the Utah State Licensing examination. A student who successfully completes the training and passes the examination is eligible for registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse. The curriculum provides for theory classes offered concurrently with clinical laboratory practice in the hospitals of the area, including Dee Memorial, St. Benedict and Weber Memorial hospitals. Students are awarded, by Weber State College, a Certificate of Proficiency upon successful completion of the Licensed Practical Nursing curriculum.
