Show DIVISION OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION Reed K. Swenson, Chairman The Division includes the Departments of Intercollegiate Athletics, Health Education, Required Physical Education and Intramurals for Men, Required Physical Education and Intra- murals for Women, Professional Physical Education and Recreation Education. The College Health Service program is administered by the Division. Medical Examination—A medical examination given by the family physician and recorded on the official Weber State College Medical Examination sheets is required of each student at his initial entrance. Required Physical Education—Three quarters of approved physical education activity courses. One approved activity course must be taken during the Autumn quarter. During this quarter the physical education testing program and the introduction to the values of physical education will be given. Men may satisfy the requirement by taking any physical education activity courses number 1 through 20; 60 through 69; 41, 43, 45, 46, 50, 51, 53. Women may satisfy the requirement by taking any physical education activity courses number 21 through 39; 41, 43, 45, 46, 50, 51, 71, 72. Medical recommendation approved by the College Physician is the only acceptable excuse to waive this requirement. Health Education—Health Education 1 is required for graduation of all students except as provided in special curricula. Baccalaureate Degree Requirements Official acceptance as a candidate for a Physical Education major will be determined at the beginning of the junior year upon demonstration of satisfactory character and academic achievement. Foundation courses required for Physical Education majors and recommended for minors in Physical Education, Health Education and Recreation: Physiology 1, Psychology 1, Health Education 3, Family Life 6, Speech 1, Library Science 40, Chemistry 5 and Physics 5, six hours of Physical Education activities in six different activities; i.e. swimming, dancing, gymnastics, weight training, individual sports and team sports.
