Show DIVISION OF BUSINESS AND ECONOMICS Quinn G. McKay, Chairman The Division of Business and Economics aims to provide men and women with the opportunity to make a life and a living, to train them to enter private business, to prepare them for employment with federal and state government agencies, to assist them to become teachers, to help them acquire skills required in the many phases of economic and business research, and to develop in them an understanding of our economy. At present, the Division includes the Departments of Accounting, Banking and Finance, Economics, Management, Marketing, and Office Administration, and Business Education. The Division offers baccalaureate programs in Accounting, Banking and Finance, Economics, Management, Marketing, and Office Administration, and secondary teaching majors in Accounting and Business Education. Baccalaureate Degree Requirements—Candidates for the Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree must complete at least 183 hours of work approved by the head of the Division and its faculty. In addition to completing the General Education Requirements of the College, at least 90 of the 183 hours must be completed in the Division of Business and Economics. At least 60 of the 183 hours must be upper division courses—those with numbers 100 or above—which are not open to Freshmen and Sophomores without approval of the head of the department offering the course, except where Division requirements provide otherwise. Candidates for the B.A. degree must have the equivalent of 24 credit hours of foreign language during high school and/ or college. Required Courses—The following courses are required, with some exceptions for business education majors, of all students majoring in the Division in order that they may have a fundamental background in courses basic to successful professional employment. Many of these courses provide training helpful in the successful completion of additional work. They are listed, as a suggestion, according to the years in which they should be taken: 81 |
