Show PRE-MEDK3INE A typical minimal entrance program for a School of Medicine includes twelve quarter hours of English including Basic Communications, sixteen quarter hours of biological (Life) sciences to include Embryology (Zoology 110) and Genetics (Genetics 130); thirty quarter hours of chemistry of which eight are organic chemistry (Chemistry 131, 132); fifteen quarter hours of physics (Physics 51 through 56); and. nine hours of mathematics (Mathematics 14, 18, 21). Area and general education courses required by the College must also be included to approximate 138 quarter credit hours(*). There are certain advantages, such as additional background and experience. If the fourth year is elected, courses should be chosen under the guidance of an adviser. It is recommended that courses be chosen to fill these requirements which require extensive reading, such as literature, and which give the student as much background information as poss'ble for medicine. Only about one-third of the medical schools in the United States require French or German. PRE-PHARMACY CURRICULUM Students planning a pharmacy career should consult the catalog of a School of Pharmacy which they plan to enter for details of a pre-pharmacy curriculum. Many such schools are fairly liberal in their entrance requirements, namely, that students meet a university or college entrance requirements upon graduation from an accredited high school. DENTAL ASSISTANTS TRAINING As this catalog is being prepared a dental assistants training program is being planned to begin in early 1965. In lieu of this consult paragraph above.
