Rabe Today it is difficult to name any human activity in which photography does not play an important part. Students in the sciences, art, journalism and education will find the photography courses particularly helpful in supplementing their major fields. Photography Minor—Art majors who minor in photography take Photography 1, 10, 24, 120 and 130. Audio-Visual Minor—Education majors who elect a minor in Audio-Visual Education take Photography 1 and 40. Photography 10 is recommended. Courses of Instruction I. Basic Photography—Light, optics, exposure, sensitized materials, filters, chemistry, and principles of color photog- graphy. Laboratory work includes camera operation, developing, printing, and enlarging. Three lectures and one laboratory a week. No prerequisite. A W S (4). Rabe 10. Color Photography—Color theory, chemistry, taking pictures in color, processing color film, and color printing. Prerequisite: Photography 1. Three lectures and one laboratory a week. A (4). Rabe II. Color Photography—Continuation of Photography 10. Prerequisite: Photography 10. A (4). Rabe 16. Photo Journalism—Planning and production of photography for publications. One lecture, one laboratory, and one publication assignment per week. Prerequisite: Photography 1. May not be offered. W (3). Rabe 24. Portrait Photography—Lighting, posing, processing, printing, and finishing techniques; includes introduction to retouching. Projects include portraits of men, women, children, and groups.
