Show DIVISION OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION Reed K. Swenson, Chairman The Division includes the departments of Intercollegiate Athletics, Health Education, Physical Education, and Recreation Education. The College Health Service Program is administered by the Division. Medical Examination—A medical examination given by the family physician and recorded on the official Weber State College Medical Examination sheets is required of each student at his initial entrance. Required Physical Education—Three quarter hours of approved physical education activity courses. Physical Education Activity Course 1, for men, and Physical Education Activity Course 21, for women, should be taken during the freshman year, unless a student is following a specified curriculum. It is recommended that men complete P.E. 1 and women P.E. 21 before taking additional P.E. requirements. Men may satisfy the Physical Education requirement by taking in addition to Physical Education 1, two credit hours selected from Physical Education Activity courses numbered 2 through 19; 60 through 69; 41, 43, 45, 46, 50. Women may satisfy the Physical Education requirement by taking in addition to Physical Education 21, two credit hours selected from Physical Education Activity courses numbered 22 through 39; 41, 43, 45, 46, 50. Health Education—Health Education 1 is required for graduation of all students except as provided in special curricula. Baccalaureate Degree Requirements Official acceptance as a candidate for a Physical Education major will be determined at the beginning of the junior year upon demonstration of satisfactory character and academic achievement. Foundation courses required for Physical Education majors and recommended for minors in Physical Education, Health Education and Recreation: Physiology 1, Psychology 1, Health Ed 3, Family Life 6, Speech 1, Library Science 100, Chemistry 5 or Physics 5, six hours of Physical Education activities in six different activities; i.e. swimming, dancing, gymnastics, weight training, individual sports and team sports. Physical Education Major—Forty-five hours of approved courses including the following: 10 hours, Techniques and Materials (including P.E. 105), P.E. 57, 58, 59, 83, 85, 150, 151, 154, 160. 161, 162, 163, 190, Health Education 105, 110.
