Carlisle, Captain, U.S.A., Head. Beginning autumn quarter 1965-66, an ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps, Army) Program will be offered at Weber State College under the sponsorship of the Department of Military Science at the University of Utah. 260 Students will have the option of participating in a four-year program or in a two-year program preceded by a six-week summer camp which substitutes for the first two years of the four year program. All instruction, as well as administration of the program, will be done on the Weber State College campus. In addition to the prescribed courses, the program also offers extra-curricular activities; such as, flight training of senior cadets, counter-guerrilla team participation, rifle team, drill team, and inter-service athletic competition. The ROTC Program provides courses leading to a commission of second lieutenant in the United States Army Reserve. Classes are required each quarter as described below. A weekly leadership laboratory is required. No special qualified tests are required for entering the first two years of the four-year program, and no pay is received by the student during the first two years. Students entering the advanced program during the last two years are selected upon the basis of qualifying tests, a physical examination, and an interview. Complete uniforms, equipment, and ROTC tests are furnished to the students for both the four-year and the two-year programs.
