Show Weber County Sheriff's Office May 10, 2003 New flag flying for freedom Weber sheriff's office honors five deputies deployed By MARK GRAY Standard-Examiner staff MATTHEW HATFIELD/Standard-Examiner Jacob Windsor (center) helps Weber County Sheriff's deputies raise a flag that his father, Deputy Troy Windsor, sent back from Kuwait. OGDEN - The American flag flying above the Weber County Sheriff's Office is more than just a symbol of patriotism; it's a reminder that five deputies are still deployed overseas, part of Operation Iraqi Freedom. That reminder is very emotional for Christa Windsor, the wife of deployed sheriffs Deputy/Naval Reserve Seaman Troy Windsor, who watched that flag flying high above Camp Morrell in Kuwait before sending it home. "It's going to be up until all of our deputies are home," Sheriff Brad Slater said. Since the war on terrorism began, 14 deputies have been deployed. Several of those who have returned home watched as the flag was raised in a ceremony Thursday.
