May 10, 2003 MATTHEW HATFIELD/Standard-Examiner Weber County Sheriff's deputies prepare to raise a flag that was sent back from Kuwait by Deputy Troy Windsor, who is serving in the Naval Reserves. "He loves these people," his wife of nearly nine years said. Aside from the flag, Windsor sent a letter to Slater telling him and fellow deputies they are an extended family to him. In the ceremony, Slater quoted excerpts from the letter. "I care so much for all of you," Windsor wrote, adding he appreciated whoever was helping with the upkeep of his lawn. The flag will be retired and placed in a display case once the five deputies return home, likely by September. Windsor, deployed in February, is expected home within two months.
