Attended Sunday priesthood meeting and Sunday School and in evening Myra & I attended Ward Sacrament meeting Leland Morison was speaker good Cleone called this evening. Retire early Monday, January 12, 1953 Nice day. Read letter from Ben L Rich and Mr Geo Q. Rich Thair our son called us up from Washington DC this evening telling us that his wife Margaret had undergone operation for her hip op. lasted 5 hours. She is feeling well tonite and he feels encouraged about result. Her hip was crushed in an Auto accident one year ago Prosthesis of hip joint. Mother attended D.U.P. this afternoon. I have been home most of day I wrote to Dr & Mrs Wm H Petty of Ls. Angeles. 60 degrees temp today. The warmest day for Jany 12th in Utah history Tuesday, January 13, 1953 The US Army plane with 40 aboard lost. Was located west of Bear Lake to go Korean Soldiers on way home from Seattle to SW United States. All died plane burnt Sad Last last Tuesday chartered plane Nice day. Snow tonite about 8 inchest deep and colder We attended party dinner & program at Hotel Ben Lomond given to Thos D Dee Hospital for medical staff of the Hospital Very good Bishop Iverson & wife from Salt Lake attended Report showed Church has spent 575000.00 on hospital & its maintenance during 1952.
