This collection contains 74 diaries of Dr. Edward Rich and his wife Almira. They begin in 1892 and run through 1965. The bulk of this collection centers on Almira's diaries that run from 1897-1947. During that time she documented her personal life and the medical practice of Edward, the community of Ogden and national events such as the outbreaks of WWI and WWII. The diaries also include newspaper and magazine clippings, memorabilia and pins. |

Show Friday, December 25, 1953 Glorious day. No snow and temp 50 degrees in middle of day All well and happy and greatly blessed. Avon & June and Richard Smart and Carlyn and child Marin came up from Salt Lake and had dinner with us and we had nice visit Dr Junior & Lynn and Cleone & Royal Eccles and Family called also Joe and Myrene Brewer and Family All brought presents and we had had a splendid happy day Saturday, December 26, 1953 Nice day, but snowing a little tonight at 830 pm Have been home all day until this eveng we visited Dr Jr and Blanch and Joe and Myrene Wendy was at Dr Harlins and we brought her to our home for a couple of hours this p.m. We are both tired from Xmas Myra slept late this morning and is rested some. Joe Brewers stores were both broken in and robbed of about 600.00 last nite Sunday, December 27, 1953 Snowed four inches of light snow last night. Clear nice day. I attended Priesthood and Sunday school. We ate nice dinner with Cleone and Royal. This eveng at our Sacrament meetng at 5 pm President David O McKay and his wife were in attendance and Presided McKay gave a wonderful sermon and dedicated the new Ward house 33rd and 43rd Wards. Wonderful musical program The best meeting I ever attended Wonderful dedicatory program by Prest McKay Monday, December 28, 1953 Colder today. Cleone and Mother went to Salt Lake and Mother bought new coat and hat nice. I had snow tires put on car rear I went down town for brief spell. Have read some. Mesiah at Tabernacle tonight but we are too tired to go Dr Jr is under the weather and is at home today. Many accidents due to little snow and cold Retire early |
