The diaries also include newspaper and magazine clippings, memorabilia and pins. |

Show McKay Limited to 500 Friends Aug 24 53 Only 500 guests will be admitted to the Salt Lake City Chamber of Commerce and Salt Lake Rotary Club luncheon Sept. 8, honoring David O. McKay, president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints, on his 80th birthday. Gus P. Backman, chamber executive secretary, reported that reservations already have been made by citizens from throughout the Intermountain area, but that owing to limited capacity of the Hotel Utahs Lafayette ballroom, the number must be limited. Pres. McKay will be at Hotel Utah at 11:30 a.m. on his birthday anniversary to greet many well wishers who may not be able to attend the luncheon. John M. Wallace, president, Walker Bank and Trust Co., and Orval Adams, executive vice president, First National Bank of Salt Lake City, are arranging the program. General committee chairman is J. F. Fitzpatrick, publisher, The Salt Lake Tribune. |
