This collection contains 74 diaries of Dr. Edward Rich and his wife Almira. They begin in 1892 and run through 1965. The bulk of this collection centers on Almira's diaries that run from 1897-1947. During that time she documented her personal life and the medical practice of Edward, the community of Ogden and national events such as the outbreaks of WWI and WWII. The diaries also include newspaper and magazine clippings, memorabilia and pins. |

Show Wednesday, April 1, 1953 Nice day. Jesse P Rich is better and we are thankful I drove down to market and this afternoon Dr Jr and I drove over to the Cemetery to see about some shrubbery etc. and visited the Dee Hospital. This evening I went over to Dr Jrs to see the Rex Layne Charles fight over T.V. Very good Charles won by narrow margin Charles is a negro. Layne beat him last July and this was a return bout We are enjoying our visit with Mary & Nancy. Cleone had a party today. Mary & Mother & Myrene attended Thursday, April 2, 1953 Avon and oertel came up from Salt Lake this 9 a.m. Oertel returning from visit to Palo Alto Cal and Los Angeles and she came back from Los Angeles via auto with June & Avon All fine. She had nice visit Our fine daughters all home today for first time together for several years. Mother and the fine daughters had their pictures taken Dr Jr also took their pictures in garden In afternoon We all had lunch at Ben Lomond hotel guests of Cleone In afternoon all 5 gals went to Salt Lake to see folks & children in in School BYU and U of U Friday, April 3, 1953 Nice day. I have been home most all day Went down to grocery market This evening I attended a lecture given by Dr EP Mills at Methodist church. Bot some new shars today 20.35 for them nothing special Jessie Rich better. Saturday, April 4, 1953 Nice day. I have been at home. Attending Conference over T.V. Our children presented us with wonderful T.V. set and it is wonderful. Cleone called this afternoon and listened to Conference Very good This evening Oertel went to Salt Lake to be with Janath and the children tomorrow Jesse Rich is much better and will go home tomorrow. |
