Ogden Standard Sept 13 53 Has 16th and 17th Child in Seven Years WILLIAMSTON, N.C. A 24 year old woman recently gave birth to her 16th and 17th children of the last seven years, a physician here disclosed yesterday. Dr. J.T. Llewellyn said twins were born Aug. 19 to Mrs. Viola Rogers Brown. Reviewing her history of multiple births, he said she gave birth prematurely to quadruplets in February, 1946, when she was 17. In December, 1948, she gave birth to a boy. In July, 1950, quintuplets were born prematurely. Twins were born in April, 1951, and a year later she gave birth to triplets. The prematurely born quadruplets, quintuplets and the first twins did not live, he said, and Mrs. Brown has six living children. Her husband, Lonnie Brown Jr., is a Korean War veteran.
