Show lumnews 1930’s Dr. Wendell L. Esplin, class of 1939, retired fom the Ogden Area Community Action Agency's Board of Trustees, after nine years of service. Dr. Esplin is a member of the automotive engineering technology faculty at CORRECTION Dr. Richard E. Kendell, class of 1967, has been named associate superintendent for planning and external relations for the Utah State Office of Education. He has been the acting chairman of the department of educational administration at University of Utah; associate dean for academic affairs in the U of U's graduate school of education and associate dean. He resides in Bountiful. 1940’s Miriam Foulger, class of 1940, was elected WlBe neg assistant vice president of the Ogden main office of First Security Bank. She has been serving as operations officer at that office. After earning her associate degree from WSC she went on to Brigham Young University for a bachelor degree. She joined the bank as a cash items clerk in 1947. Wayne J. Barlow, class of 1969, visited WSC in his official capacity as regional deputy director of the Federal Aviation Administration to present a check for $2,500 to the college. The money will be used by WSC to design and construct a satellite that will be launched from a space shuttle in the fall of 1984 to help the FAA calibrate their radar equipment. He and his family recently moved from Crystal Lake, Illinois to Redmond, Washington. His new office for the FAA is in Seattle. 1950’s Roy C. Nelson, class of 1953 and chairman of the WSC Institutional Council, has been named executive vice president of the Utah operations of American Savings and Loan Assn. He has been senior vice president and manager of credit administration for Commercial Security Bank. Prior to joining Commercial Security, he was with Bank of Utah. After his graduation from WSC he attended the University of Utah and the Pacific Coast School of Banking. Gerald R. West, class of 1956, has been nam- manager, commercial loan officer, branch coordinator and compliance officer. He is a member of the Ogden Kiwanis Club and has served as president of the Northern Utah Chapter, American Institute of Banking and the Roy Chamber of Commerce. m- Ware ty PH Kip et- Ks) Assn. City, and most recently as principal Roosevelt Elementary in Weber County. of Allen “Stretch” Holmes, class of 1959, who played basketball for WSC and later for University of Utah, and is an ethnic minority specialist at the Utah State Prison and vice president of Project Re-Entry. In 1959 Holmes was named junior college All-American and also the tournament's "Most Valuable Player." That year he helped WSC become the first team in NJCAA history to be ranked No. 1 in the nation all season and win the championship. He is married and has two stepchildren. Sarah L. (White) Voigt, class of 1964, has been honored as Woman Educator of the Year by the Davis County chapters of Delta Kappa Gamma International. She is a second grade teacher in Kaysville, and has taught in Davis County elementary schools since 1963. After graduation from WSC, Sarah earned a master's degree from University of Utah in 1977. She is past-president of Pi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma and is second vice president at the state level. She is president-elect of the Assn. for Childhood Education International in Davis County. In the Clearfield Community Church she is a Cub Scout Den Mother, serves on the diaconate, sings in the choir and is director of Christian education. Insurance Trust; a member of the Mt. Ogden Rotary Club; on the Ogden-Weber Area Vocational Center Advisory Committee; and is a Junior Achievement Advisor. David and his wife Cheryl have three children and live in Ogden. 1970's treal, Quebec, Canada; New York City; Mexico 1960’s of W. David Chambers, class of 1969, has been elected vice president of finance and corporate administration of Anderson Lumber Company. He has been with the company five years and has served as controller and treasurer. He is a certified public accountant. He is also on the board of directors of Pioneer Wholesale Supply.Co.; currently chairman of the board of trustees of the Mountain States Lumber & Building Materials Dealers Dr. Steven R. Mecham, class of 1958, was appointed assistant superintendent of Weber County School District, Ogden, Utah last Oct. He has served as director of schools in Mon- 1S- Stephen L. Empey, class of 1972, has been appointed vice president in charge of business development for Utah Firstbank. he previously was assistant vice president and assistant manager of Utah Firstbank's office in The Brickyard Plaza in Salt Lake City. After his graduation in business administration he was employed by Commercial Security Bank until 1981. Craig Harris, class of 1972, who is director of environmental services at Lakeview Hospital in ed a senior vice president with responsibility over credit administration for Bank of Utah. He has held a number of positions with the bank, including consumer loan manager, bank insurance Judy Bezoski, class of 1972, was chosen to represent the Lakeview Business and Professional Women’s Club as "Woman of the Year." She is presently employed by the Weber County School District as a resource special educator. She has spent 11 years working with behavior disordered students, and pioneered the first self-contained behavior management unit for adolescents with severe emotional handicaps in the Weber School District. She was listed in “Who's Who Among Colleges and Universities’ in 1971. She received a Master's of Education from Utah State in 1980. She is married to Donald W. Bezoski Sr. and has two children. Dr. Frank L. Salimeno, class of 1965, was named 1981-82 Optometrist of the year by the Utah Optometric Assn. He graduated from Pacific University of Optometry, and during his service in the U.S. Army he was chief of the eye clinic at Dugway Proving Ground. His optometric practice is in Ogden. has been named Executive services, risk manager and safety director for Valley West Hospital for ten years. He lives in Roy, Utah. David F. Butler, class of 1972, was promoted to manager of Anderson Lumber's Bountiful Building Material Center. He joined the Bountiful store immediately after graduation and was promoted to assistant manager of the Redwood Road store in 1978. Kerry William Bate, class of 1972, is author of a new book entitled The Ebenezer Hanks Story, which is an account of an early Mormon Elder. He lives in Salt Lake City. Terry Williams, class of 1973, was elected to Karl S. Robertson, class of 1971, has been named a senior vice president of Bank of Utah and a branch administrator. He is a native of Coalville. he was manager of the Bank of Northern Utah until its merger with the Bank of Utah. ee Byron L. Wade, class of 1971, has been elected vice president and general counsel to MCO Bountiful, Housekeeper of the Year by the Utah Chapter of the National Executive Housekeepers Assn. Prior to his appointment at Lakeview three years ago, Craig was director of environmental Resources, Inc. (formerly McCulloch Oil Corp). He will . relocate from Los company’s headquarters in a Angeles to the Houston, Texas. At WSC he was active in student government, a member of Blue Key and Phi Kappa Phi. He received a Juris Doctorate degree in 1974 from University of Southern California. He engaged in private law practice in Los Angeles for three years following graduation. In i977 he joined Santa Fe Industries as a staff attorney and was promoted to Assistant General Attorney in 1980. He joined MCO as Senior Attorney in 1980 and was named Assistant Secretary of the corporation in October, 1981. He is married to the former Carol Webb of Washington Terrace, (WSC class of 1969) who is a former senior auditor for the cities of Burbank and Anaheim, California. They have three children. the Utah State Senate for District One in the last election, with nearly 60% of the vote. Previously he served one term in the Utah State House. Both of these elected offices are for districts in Salt Lake City. Paul W. Dawson, class of 1973, has been promoted to the position of liaison officer for the First Juvenile Judicial District Court. He will be responsible for volunteer and restitution programs, as well as community service work, ordered by the court. Paul is working on his master's degree at University of Utah. Aquel Belagam, class of 1975, was promoted to assistant manager of the Eighth South office of First Security Bank of Utah. He has been with First Security as a timeway loan officer. He is a member of the Jaycee's. Greg W. Haws, class of 1976, has been promoted to CPA officer/shareholder at Schmitt, James & Co. of Ogden. He joined the firm in 1976 as a staff accountant. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Ac- countants, and is currently president-elect of the northern chapter of the Utah Assn. of CPA's. R. Scott Waterfall, class of 1977, has opened a law office at Boulevard Plaza in Ogden. After he received an accounting degree from WSC he graduated from BYU Law School and worked as a tax specialist with a CPA firm in Billings, Montana. 1980's Suzette R. Ahrendt, class of 1980, is in her second year as vice chair of the Park City Historic District Commission. She is currently employed by the United States Ski Team in the educational foundation arm. She lives in Park City. Helen DeCoste, carpentry and millwork as class of 1978 and business administration class of 1980, is training to become a volunteer member of the Roy Fire Department, along with her husband Al. The DeCostes run an average of 70 miles a week, with Al covering 50 miles and Helen about 20. In addition, Al is a certified emergency medical technician and Helen qualifies in advanced first aid and cardiac pulmonary resuscitation. Helen currently holds a full-time civil service position in Salt Lake. The DeCostes have three * children: Debbie, 17; Susan, David class of 1980, has been nam- L. Drake, 16; and David, 14. ed a senior vice president and head of office administration at Bank of Utah. He joined Bank of Utah in 1974 as systems and programming manager. He has more than 20 years experience in computer management and programming, including four years as a data processing instructor in the Navy. Annette Reinig, class of 1981, was promoted to operations officer at the First South Office of Commercial Security Bank. Wendy Moore, class of 1981, has been named Marketing Drector of the Puente Hills Mall at City of Industry, California. Misc. Ron Osborn, (Education major) was named Farmington City Recreation Director. Heis past president, and for the past 11 years he has been the Deputy Utah State Amateur Softball Assn. Commissioner. He has been the director of South Davis County Bantam Basketball sponsored by Utah National Guard for the past 12 years. He was a coach at Washington Junior High in Ogden prior to working as an account executive with ABF Freight Systems. He and his wife, Pat (Parrish), reside in Farmington with their three children. Pat is a ranked tennis player in the Utah State Tennis Assn. Bryon Dahl has been included on the Dean's Honor List at Palmer College of ChiropracticWest, Sunnyvale, California. HEAD Ti =; WORD?
