Scots, let’s change history. Starting this year, why not let Ben Lomond start dominating the series? The first thing that needs to be done is to make the football team realize that Ogden is just another school. They’re not better than we are and they can be beaten, easily. It seems that Ben Lomond isn’t the only school that has trouble beating Ogden. Take Weber for instance. Since the Little Brown Jug started 43 years ago, has won 32 We need to start winning for another reason, too. Each time that Ogden or Ben Lomond wins the Iron Horse, a railroad tie is painted on their side of the track in their school colors. These letters may be submitted in person or dropped in one of the boxes in the office or library. Letters need not be typed, but must be accompanied by name. However, if just cause is shown, the name will not be printed, and your anonymity guaranteed. This column, containing well-managed controversy, promises to be one of the paper’s interesting features. The newspaper this year, more so than in other years, will depend on advertising for production. When we obtain ads from people and businesses, we tell them that our studentbody will support and patronize them. You could do your part by commenting casually, to our downtown sponsors, that you saw their ad in our paper. As a parting note, we, of the Highlander staff realize that our paper doesn’t measure up to the New York Times, but we're proud of our work and big alligator tears well up in our eyes when we see it scattered all over the campus. A paper it is, a door mat it isn’t. Please help. With your cooperation we think we can make the paper this year a functional voice of the students here at BEN LOMOND.
