Besides us, Ogden, High belong The trophy is not awarded on the basis of individual victories in single events, but rather, the emphasis is placed on the total team effort. For every “superior” rating the contestant gets five points, for every “excellent” three, and for “goods one point. The sum of those points determines which school wins the trophy. Everybody who participated contributed to the victory, not only those who won in their particular event. We were able to win the meet with 135 points, followed by Ogden High with 119 points. Every school sent six participants into each event: Debate, Oratory, Legislative Forum (House of Representatives and Senate), Radio and Extemporaneous Speaking. LOMOND DEBATES To this contest Ben Lomond sent as debaters Kelly Newton and Randy Russell, Cliff Hyatt and Glenn Watts, and Rick Woodbury and Gene Wadman. All the teams received “good” ratings. The alternates were Rita Stanford and Becky Carruth. In Oratory we sent John Pyner, who was rated “ superior,’”; Lynn Dyment who received an “excellent,” and Esther Escobido, who was ranked “good”. Debbie Hansen was the alternate. Chad Checketts in Extemporaneous Speaking got an “excellent”, as did Renate Pagel and Cheryl Higham in Legislative Forum, while Dave Sanders in the same event made a “good”. In Radio Speaking an ‘“excellent” was given to Terry Clark, a “good” to Gary Brough. Se ‘y now ha aie third and fourth - year pins for third-year graduates and fourth-year graduates. The third year pin is $3.50 and the fourth-year guard is $1.50. They are on display at the Seminary and can be purchased there any time from March 20th to April Ist.
