Show PAGE 8 HIGHLANDER FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 14, 1969 SPORTS Seniors Rip to 18-6 Powderpuff Win Cross-Country Runners Encounter Hard Luck After Brilliant Start A hard-luck group of runners finished the season in a way they had not expected—losing. After a great start, the Scot Cross Country team began to slide. The team opened the season with perfect-score victories over Bear River and Box Elder, and a team championship in the City-County meet. Then came the down- fall. After a narrow victory over Weber, fered by a convincing Sky loss to Roy, and the team suf- were annihilated View. They entered the Region meet as a crippled team. Two runners failed to finish due to injuries as the team sank to a fifth-place finish. In the final quarter of the game, the Seniors’ explosive offense went into action again, and Senior fullback Becky “The Rock” Cassity, made her presence known. With the ball on the Senior 45, Becky took a pitchout around left end. She eluded two would-be tacklers, outran the rest 55 yards for the Seniors’ final score of the game. Late in the quarter, the Sophs-Jrs. finally got on the scoreboard, after capitaliizng on a bad punt by the Seniors.
