BY TIM GURRISTER Standard-Examiner staff tgurrister@standard.net OGDEN The $265 million New Ogden Weber, or NOW, expansion project for Interstate 15 just passed the halfway point, according to the Utah Department of Transportation, and it's on schedule. The project began in February 2006 and will add a lane to I-15 along 9.5 miles between Riverdale on the move and Farr West. All six interchanges along the stretch 31st Street, 24th Street, 21st Street, 12th Street, 450 North and 2700 North will be replaced and/or upgraded, said Andy Neff, UDOT's Region 1 spokesman. NOW should be complete by fall 2008, he said. "As we get closer, we'll name a month." Interstate 15 widening project The project includes major improvements between 31st Street and 12th Street in Weber County: Four additional travel lanes from Interstate 84 merge to 12th Street in Ogden. Interchange reconstruction at 31st Street, 24th Street, 21st Street and 12th Street. Replacement of 18 bridges, construction of two new bridges, rehabilitation of four bridges. Sound walls in various sections to mitigate noise. Improved roadway aesthetics.
