Show New Year Begins With New Terms, January 3, 2007 Oath of Office Weber County Sheriff Brad Slater thanks his supporters after being sworn in to office. Nine elected Weber County officials sworn in BY KELLI PALMER-STEPHENS_ Standard-Examiner Staff kstephens@standard.net OGDEN Nine Weber County elected officials, including new Commissioner Jan Zogmaister, who replaced Commissioner Camille Cain, were sworn in Tuesday. "This really is a great place to serve, and we look forward to working with all of them," Weber County Commissioner Craig Dearden said. The inauguration ceremony comes after the Nov. 7 elections, and of the nine sworn in, Zogmaister is the only official who hasn't been involved in the county as either an elected official or a staff member, Dearden said. Zogmaister was sworn in by reelected Judge Craig Storey, after he was inaugurated by Court Clerk Marcia Eisenhower. Along with Zogmaister, officials who took the oath of office include Craig Storey, judge; Kenneth Bischoff, commissioner; Cheryl Madsen, assessor; Mark DeCaria, county attorney; Alan McEwan, clerk/ auditor; Ernest Rowley, recorder/ surveyor; Brad Slater, sheriff; and Nila Dayton, treasurer. "I am excited to get in there and get to work," Zogmaister said after the ceremony. She is going to study every issue to make sure she represents equally everyone in Weber County, she said. Due to her past as a business owner, Dearden feels Zogmaister will bring good business sense to the table. As time goes by, Dearden said, she has potential to be "as good or better" than Commissioner Cain. Cain chose not to run for re-election. The commissioners elected Kenneth Bischoff as commission chairman and Zogmaister as vice chairwoman later that day at first regular commission meeting of the year. "I am looking forward to the next four years," Bischoff said.
