Show Jan 8 1935 Honor David O. McKay Acadia club members entertained at dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Porter, 800 Washington avenue, Tuesday evening, in honor of Mr. and Mrs. David O. McKay, in recognition of Mr. McKays appointment as second counselor to President Heber J. Grant of the L. D. S. church. Mrs. McKay has long been a member of the club. The table decorations were yellow jonquils and white tapers in crystal holders. Mrs. Robert I. Burth, president of the club, extended a welcome and introduced the toastmaster, David J. Wilson. Toasts to President and Mrs. McKay were given by President Robert I. Burton of the Ogden L. D. S. stake; Mrs. E. I. Rich, Dr. Joseph R. Morell, and an original poem was read by Mrs. Martha B. Cooley. President and Mrs. McKay made responses. They were presented with gifts from the club, by Mrs. Porter. Covers were laid for 30 club members and their husbands, with Mr. and Mrs. Thomas E. McKay of Huntsville as guests in addition to the guests of honor. The committee in charge of arrangements included Mrs. J. E. Wright, Mrs. R. B. Porter and Mrs. David J. Wilson. |
