BRIGHAM YOUNG DAUGHTER DEAD Maria Young Dougall Was Born In Salt Lake In 1849 1935 SALT LAKE CITY, April 30.- (AP)- Mrs. Maria Young Dougall, 85, eldest daughter of Brigham Young, pioneer leader of the Latter-day Saints church, died at her home here today of angina pectoris. Mrs. Dougall, who was born in this city in 1849, two years after the arrival of the first party of Mormons, had been in good health until last night and her sudden death was unexpected despite her age. Mrs. Dougall spent the major portion of her long life participating in activities of the Latter-day Saints church. She spent several years working in the young womens Mutual Improvement association and in 1887 was named first counselor in the church-wide organization. She served in that capacity six years and later became a guide at the bureau of information on the temple grounds. She was also active in affairs of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and was an honorary member of the Daughters of Handcart Veterans. Surviving are a son, Hugh W. Dougall of this city; two daughters, Mrs. Catherine Dougall Platt and Mrs. Claire Dougall Bergstrom of the city, four sisters and two brothers, ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Her husband, William B. Dougall, died in 1909.
