This evening Dr and I attended a party in honor of President Robert Burton. HELENA STAR REBUILDING QUAKES FAD Stores Open For Bu and Needy Furnishe Food, Shelter HELENA, Mont., Oct. 23 Although the earth continue sporadic shaking, Helna drove ahead today with the construction program. Opening headquarters in a vacant bank, it began registration of persons in need of food clothing and shelter. The threat of suffering from subzero temperatures among refugees at the tent city established for the homeless was temporarily dissipated with installation of heating equipment. One hundred seventy skilled laborers were at work on repairs throughout the city, the re-employment service reported. The task of rebuilding was not a new one ofr the city. In the days of its infancy, in 1869, it was swept by fire. Three years later a minor earthquake shook it. The next year it was damaged by another fire. Two years afterward, in 1874, half the business section burned. A flood down the gulch ripped aways homes in 1878. In 1925 it suffered some damage from another earth shock of moderate intensity. In 1926 a disastrous 1,500,000 fire occurred. Thursday, October 24, 1935 297th Day 68 Days to come Recd a card from Avon saying she would be home from Cal Saturday. I have stayed home today. Remained in bed until noon. This afternoon I did scrap book work. Cleone invited me to go with her to Drama Club held a Farmington. I did not go. Wrote a letter to Pres R. I. Burton in appreciation of his friendship. We have worked in Mount Ogden Stake ever since it was organized in 1922 May. Wrote a note to Mrs Grossman in appreciation of her good wishes for me.
