Show January 16, In Region By HOWARD DRESCHER The pipes echoed sadly for the Ben Lomond Scots int:ni ne when the Sky View Bobcats beat the kilts off the laddies, 89-68, This gives Sky View a 43 re- cord for league play while Ben Lomond is 1-6. Neither team looked good starting out and the first quarter was very ho-hum stuff. Sky View kept an edge and it was 15-12 when the cloek ran out. The second quarter was no nonsense. The Bobcats unsheathed their claws and gave the clan the business. Dennis Alvey went in for Cal VanDyke and made it tough on the Scots. The smallest man on the floor, Alvey was easily the most energetic, The cats scored 5 from the line and 12 from the floor, 29 points in all. The clan gained only 17 and at the half the cats were in front 44-29, As the third period got taller way, the cats kept up their pressure and soon stretched out a 21 point lead. It must have been the last straw for the Scots, because they suddenly came ‘alive and ° showed some true highland fighting spirit. GREAT SHOW In.the last six minutes of the third, they put on a great show, outscoring the Bobcats and clos- ing the 21 point lead to. 12 ints. Neil Chadwick and. Kim Hain- line led the scoring here, but it was a real team effort. . The scoreboard read 67-52 at the end of the third. Unfortunately, the clan ran out of steam and were overwhelmed in the fourth. The sharp-eyed Cats shot a solid 62°per cent. Kim Oliverson led the scoring with. 26; Doug Pehrson followed with (16, Neil Mathews and mini-tiger Dennis “Alvey each sank 14.
