Lomond was represented by four debate teams; eight participants in legislative forum, five in extemporaneous speaking and five in oratory. The debaters won the majority of their rounds. At the time this article was written the outlook for the Weber State College Meet was hopeful. High expectations were especially placed in John Pyner and Lynn Dyment as orators. Dee Bullock and the student directors are Bridgett Karin Johnson. Gaither and Ben Lomond might have a championship orator and debater with her in the coming years. Mr. Monson, the debate coach, was very successful in interesting many sophomores and juniors in debate. The team was joined by many students at the beginning of the new semester. Mr. Monson expressed his wish that more sophomores and juniors would register for that subject in the next school year. Ben Lomond would then have an experienced and successful group for the next year. So far Ben Lomond has not lost one practice debate meet with other schools Even Ogden High was beaten by ?? points.
