The yearly competition required supporting letters from colleagues and ex-students, as well as an essay describing successes and failures as an educator. He was formerly in the Logan Community Banking Area. Brownell was recently promoted to assistant vice president and manager of the Ogden 12th Street Office of First Security Bank of Utah. He was formerly assistant vice president and assistant manager at the Ogden Harrison Blvd. office. Lowell Marriott Harrop was recently appointed as a course administrator at AT&T. In this position he will travel throughout the United States instructing company training programs. Mr. Harrop has taught in Davis County and worked at Mountain Bell before going to AT&T in 1984. He is based in Salt Lake City and reports to AT&T corporate headquarters in New Jersey. 1972 Jon M. Tanner is the new vice president for sales and marketing for Sudico, Inc. Sudico is a distributor of Utah networking products with headquarters in bountiful, Utah. They specialize in Novell Networking, System Integration for computer dealers across the United States. Mr. Tanner and his wife Peggy live in Layton, Utah. 1978 Kevin S. Shurtleff is a new consumer loan officer in the Tremonton, Utah office of First Security Bank of Utah. He was formerly in the Brigham City office. Dale T. Johnson has been promoted to assistant vice president and area manager of the North Davis Community Banking Group in Layton for First Security Bank of Utah. He was formerly an assistant vice president and manager of the South Ogden area. 1979 Shelley Salita Beckham received a masters of social work Floyd E. Hebdon recently received a masters of art degree in family and community history from Brigham Young University in April. His thesis was “The Japanese-American Intemees of Gila River, Ariz.” Currently he is employed as an acquisitions librarian at the Family History Library in Salt Lake City. 1973 Scott E. Daily has been promoted to assistant vice president and manager of the Park City office of First Security Bank of Utah. Capt. Daniel J. Hawks was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal (first oak leaf cluster) for his superb leadership and outstanding management while serving as chief of the logistics division, 548th Reconnaissance Technical Group at Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii. He initiated several programs which saved the group over $250,000 while achieving a much improved maintenance quality control program and uninterrupted intelli- gence support to various Pacific Air Force agencies.
