Students who select the Business Education Teaching minor must satisfy the Teacher Education admission and certification requirements (see Teacher Education Department in this catalog). The Business Education Teaching minor must be cleared with the TBE department by the beginning of a student's junior year. Degree in Office Technologies. Must complete the math competency. (Math 105 with at least aC-ora Math ACT score of 19 or above.) TELECOMMUNICATIONS & BUSINESS EDUCATION COURSES - TBE (Formerly BEAS courses) 101. Elementary PC Keyboarding and Applications (3) An automated approach to learning the keyboard and the keyboarding of letters, reports, and tables using microprocessors. 104. Speedbuilding Keyboarding (3) Keyboard review. Intensive drill work for speed pertaining to individual student assessment as determined by using word processing software on a microprocessor. 150. Business Mathematics by Calculating Machines (4) Problems in percentage, discount, simple and compound interest, merchandising, taxes, etc., solved by calculators. PD170. Microcomputer Applications (4) A general introduction to the use of microcomputers and microcomputer software. Includes an introduction to file structure and design, database concepts, financial spreadsheets, graphics, other microcomputer software, and ethical and international issues relating to the use of computers. The course requires two lecture sessions and three practicum sessions weekly. Keyboarding skill of 25 wpm recommended.
